PARKS AND RECREATION

Bloomfield has a total of 1,637 acres set aside as open space. This open space, school and parkland are used for passive recreation. In addition, the state-owned Penwood State Park, Metropolitan District No. 6, Talcott Park, Cold Spring Flood Water Retention Reservoir and Retarding Dam, and Wintonbury Flood Water Retention and Retarding Dam are also located in Town and bring the total of public open space to a remarkable 20% of Bloomfield.
